A group of Ajuda Amiga members traveled to Guinea-Bissau at their own expense in order to carry out the distribution.

The book "Legends and tales of Guinea- Bissau" will be distributed in Guinea-Bissau, in some schools and libraries.

Collect and prepare and send to Guinea-Bissau by sea by container 3,5 tons of goods.

The total of tons sent so far is 151,4 t, which includes 205,100 books for schools and libraries.

2017

Publication of the book "Legends and tales of Guinea- Bissau", which was distributed free of charge in Portugal, in schools and libraries, where the largest Guinean communities exist.
The book shows moments of greatness of the ancient history of Guinea, and folktales, which show their wisdom and spirit of solidarity.
The main objective is to promote the integration of students in society, and motivates them to read.
Lectures in schools, interviews on TV and radio, etc., were also made to complement this action.

Ajuda Amiga rovided €5.000 in funds to help the Cumura Hospital in Guinea-Bissau buy Rifabutina (medicine for HIV and tuberculosis).

On 20-02-2010 Ajuda Amiga sent a container to Guinea-Bissau, with humanitarian and development aid, and distributed the goods in Bissorã, Farim and others cities.

2009

On 10-02-2009 Ajuda Amiga sent a container to Guinea-Bissau, with humanitarian and development aid, and distributed the goods in Bissorã, Farim and others cities.

Opened a road and repaired the roof of one school, provided funds for a party meal for the children's of Bijene.

Conducted a workshop about "Pruning fruit trees".

2008

Since 1998, before the formation of “Ajuda Amiga”, members of this Association had already started individual actions to send help to Guinea-Bissau. All of them are veterans of Guinea-Bissau war (1963-1974).

In a meeting on 18-04-2008 at Lisbon, a group of veterans decided to create the "Ajuda Amiga" NGO and joined forces. The first priority was decided to be the region of Óio, in Guinea-Bissau.

The activities are based in 4 help programs: "Help Education and Culture ", "Help Vocational Training ", "Help Children and the Elderly", and "Help Basic Services ". Education is our first priority.

One major project is done every year, sending a Container to Guinea-Bissau with humanitarian and development help.

On 18-7-2008 “Ajuda Amiga – Associação de Solidariedade e Apoio ao Desenvolvimento” was officially created. It translates as “Friendly Help - Association of Solidarity and Support to Development”.

The statutes are accessible through the portal of the Ministry of Justice in Portugal (http://publicacoes.mj.pt, just search for Ajuda Amiga), published on 18/7/2008.

Our objectives are defined in article 4 of the Statutes, and are the following:

"1 - Supporting the economic and social development of disadvantaged populations.

2 - For the pursuit of its objectives, the Association will provide support to:

a) humanitarian projects of social support to needy populations;
b) Development projects, especially in the areas of agriculture, services, education, culture and handicraft industry. "

On 15-9-2008 Ajuda Amiga was recognized as an NGOD - Non-Governmental Organizations for Development by Camões Institute (old IPAD - Portuguese Institute for Development Support). This public institute belongs to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
